Are you interested in languages and cultures? Do you want to help dedicated speakers of languages to share their knowledge with others in ways that break down barriers and encourage dynamic engagement?
We are looking for assistance with virtual classes in the form of (very easy) technical support with video-conferencing and teacher assistance. This could involve monitoring multiple classes in the program or also working with specific teachers in languages of interest. Classes are working with Zoom and Skype video-conferencing, so any familiarity is helpful but we can train you.
GLN's classes are scheduled conveniently in the evenings between 5-5:30 PM and 9:30 PM with weekend classes especially on Sundays throughout the day. We have needs for both evening and Sunday volunteers.
We ask you to be reliable, dedicated and inspired by languages & cultures. If you can provide support at least one evening per week or more, GLN will thank you with a free language class of your choice in the summer schedule (view this at thegln.org, click learn, click schedule). GLN has a corps of wonderful volunteers, but we're looking for your help to make this a great semester for the teachers, students and more. Please apply by sending your resume to Volunteer@TheGLN.Org. Classes start as soon as June 15th, so please apply today!
This is a fun way to give back while interacting with teachers of languages from around the world.
Global Language Network (GLN) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to the mission of, "Using language as a tool to help fix our world." GLN helps native speakers to share their languages and cultures through fun and immersive programming. This summer, GLN is offering over 100 classes in 30 languages taught by teachers from around the world online.
GLN is affordable, engaging and encourages the focus to be on learning rather than profit. All languages are welcome and equal with the exciting ability for people to now learn online. GLN's program is online to protect the health, safety and well-being of teachers, students and volunteers. We are encouraging learning to help people change the world through language learning.
We can provide training and ongoing support. We hope to hear from you.

Mission Statement
The Global Language Network (GLN) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization founded by Andrew Brown in 2005 whose mission is to provide opportunities to learn any language at a minimal cost. We recruit and train native speakers who volunteer their time to teach their language and share their culture with the DC community. Our affordable classes in 62 different languages build learners' communicative competence and enable them to communicate with others in meaningful and culturally appropriate ways.
Description
GLN makes language learning easy, enjoyable and effective: we create a comfortable environment where students have direct experiences with the target language and culture. We engage them and build their competence and confidence to communicate with others in meaningful and appropriate ways.
GLN teaches language through culture and culture through language because by studying languages people gain knowledge and understanding of the cultures that use that language, and in fact, cannot truly master the language until having also mastered the cultural contexts in which the language occurs.
