White Ribbon Alliance is an international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to advance the health and rights of women and girls around the world. WRA is seeking an Arabic Translator to translate parts of the Respectful Maternity Care Charter: Universal Rights of Women and Newborns.The charter clearly articulates the rights of women and newborns during maternity care. The project would be to translate supporting pieces of the charter, totaling a little over 500 words. As the charter is grounded in human rights, we hope to find someone with an expertise in this area.

COVID19 Connection:

In response to the COVID19 outbreak, the Global Respectful Maternity Care Council, convened by White Ribbon Alliance has launched an advocacy campaign titled "Safer Together: Respectful Maternity Care in COVID-19", based on the Respectful Maternity Care Charter. The campaign's goals are:

1. All women and newborns are treated with dignity and respect in every aspect of maternity care provided to them during the COVID-19 pandemic, based on the best available evidence and with special attention to the need to keep mother and baby together, with skin to skin contact, support for breastfeeding and to ensure the presence of birth companion of choice.
2. All women are cared for in health facilities that are properly equipped to protect both patients and providers, with adequate number of providers and proper infection control, protective equipment, and water/sanitation, with special attention to availability of essential routine maternity services and emergency transport.
3. All providers, women and their families are aware of their rights and responsibilities within the health care system and those rights are respected, protected and fulfilled during the pandemic, when they are more critical than ever.
