Position Information:
Hope Communities, a nonprofit providing support and affordable housing to intersectional communities across the Denver area, operates a bi-weekly food bank on Wednesday mornings. We need 3-6 volunteers year-round to assist with set up, food distribution, and breakdown. Volunteers can commit on an ongoing basis, or to a specific shift they know they can attend.
This is a great way to get involved in the community and further the cause of Hope Communities!
Responsibilities:
Upon arrival, volunteers will be greeted by a staff member and given direction. et up will begin at 9 am, which includes unloading food being dropped off and setting up tables. Food distribution starts at 10:30 am and will end by 11 am. After that, we will break down the tables and ensure all food is either given away or stored. All work should conclude by noon, at the latest. You can email volunteer@hopecommunities.org to get involved, or use our signup sheet here: https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/26570540072/true#/invitation

Mission Statement
Hope Communities' mission is to create diverse, healthy communities through quality, service-enriched, affordable housing.
Description
Hope Communities was founded in 1980 by a group of citizens concerned about the lack of decent, affordable housing in Denver. Beginning in the historic Five Points neighborhood, Hope Communities operated a single building of rental units that Denver families and individuals could afford; almost thiry years later, the organization's geographic focus has expanded to include the entire Metro Denver area, at a time where affordable housing has only become more critical.
In addition to rental housing, Hope Communities also offers an array of programs and services designed to empower residents and build community. These include adult education, youth education, health and wellness programs, case management, and events to engage the entire community.
