At Cadence Hospice, we are looking for volunteers who can knit or crochet items for hospice patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's and/or Dementia. We would like to be able to offer hand-knitted and hand-crocheted items that would act as comfort items but also serve as an activity to divert them from other behaviors. Patients with Alzheimer's and Dementia may have outbursts, they may exhibit physical anxiety, they may exhibit repeated motions (picking at their skin, picking at their clothing, removing tissues from the tissue box, etc.), etc. Volunteer created items such as twiddle muffs, fidget sleeves, busy mats, etc. would contribute immensely to alleviating some of the agitation they may experience. We would also love to have someone knit or crochet blankets or shawls for patients for warmth and comfort. It can often be cold year round in a facility so the need is year round.
We are looking to collaborate with someone who is proficient and may have some ideas about what we can create for our patients.
Please respond to this opportunity for more information. We would love…
