Join Our Food Pantry Volunteer Team!
Are you ready to make a difference in your community? We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us sort and distribute food to those in need. Your efforts will bring smiles and hope to many!
What You’ll Do:
- Sort and Pack: Organize canned goods and non-perishable items in our food pantry.
- Distribute Joy: Assist in handing out food boxes or bags to our community members.
- Recycle and Refresh: Disassemble boxes, discard expired food and help keep our pantry clean and stocked for the next service day.
- Be A Shopping Buddy: Receive a shopping list and help gather items from the pantry, ensuring our clients get exactly what they need.
Qualifications:
- Heart for Service: Must be able to work with the public and have a passion for helping homeless and low-income individuals.
- Strength and Stamina: Able to lift and carry a 20-pound food bag and stand for most of the shift.
- Bilingual Bonus: (English and Arabic/Farsi/Chaldean) speakers are preferred, but not required.
Please note: All volunteers must be at least 18 years old. We are NOT accepting court-ordered volunteers for this location. If you do have community service hours to complete and are interested in helping at our Downtown San Diego location, please call 619-446-0239 or e-mail aimee.wilform@salvationarmy.org.
Complying with the county, and in an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19, we encourage all individuals who may be immunocompromised or in an at risk age category to not volunteer at this time. This includes those caring for individuals in these categories.
Shifts:
Monday: 9 am to noon and/or 12:45-4:30
Tuesday: 9 am to noon
Thursday: 9 am to noon
Friday: 10 am to noon/ 12:45-4:30/ 4:00-6:30
