Become a temporary foster for one of our adoptable cats/kittens from time to time when your schedule allows.
We have kittens/cats residing seven days a week in special habitats at six pet supply stores like PetSmart, PETCO, and Pet Supplies Plus. The are available to adopt seven days a week which is why we adopt close to 300 cats per year.
Space Foster: We will have cats ready to go to a condo but nothing empty at the time so we need a foster to care for the cat/kitten until we have an adoption and a condo becomes available.
Quarantine Foster: When we take in a cat/kitten we do a Health Intake exam, treat any issue we find like fleas, diarrhea, or goopy eyes. We vaccinate, treat with flea prevention and intestinal and quarantine the kitten for at least a week before moving it to a condo in one of the pet supply stores to show for adoption. Going to a new home is stressful enough for the cat so we want to be sure the cat is healthy before going to their new home.
Medical Foster: Stress can cause a cat a cat to develop conjunctivitis (pink eye), upper respiratory infection, or diarrhea. When that occurs we want to remove the cat from the condo and place it in foster care where it can be medicated for a week to ten days. These conditions can be contagious to the other cats in the condo and it turns off an adopter's interest.
We train if necessary and provide the supplies you need, all you add is love.

Mission Statement
Friends of League City Animal Shelter aka League City Pets Alive is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Our purpose is to stop the senseless killing of companion animals and maintain the "NO KILL" status of League City. We acquire donations or raise funds for the purchase of services and supplies not covered by the City budget. Funds are used for mostly for veterinary care, medical supplies, puppy and kitten food, and related animal supplies.
Description
In 2013 we set a goal to become NO KILL. The community achieved that goal completely in 2017. A shelter is considered "no kill" at 90% live release rate. We didn't stop there. The volunteers and staff work tirelessly to maintain over 95% live release. Committing to be "no kill" means providing treatment for animals that most shelters would kill rather than spend funds to treat. Our community has a generous giving spirit and we are blessed with donations that allow many animals to be saved. We have cats available for adoption seven days a week at SIX area pet supply stores. The Kitty Condo Krewe increased the live release of cats significantly. The Cat Condo program requires 70 volunteer shifts per week.
"We are delighted to have moved into our new shelter in 2020. The new shelter gives us more space for animals and the ability to engage the community at the shelter and develop more life saving programs.
Come join us in saving lives.
