ORGANIZATION: PENINSULA ART ACADEMY
Please visit the new page to apply.
NOTE: If you applied in the past and you were not contacted (our bad), or you decided not to volunteer, please try us again. See www.peninsulaartacademy.org to find out more about what we do.
The Peninsula Art Academy (PAA) is a popular place for locals and tourists to visit and take classes. Since it is close to the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, there is often a steady stream of visitors before the train is loaded and when people get off. There are times when the Academy has a real party atmosphere -- full of visitors, artists, students, and generally interesting people. There are also lulls that allow quiet time for paperwork. A benefit to volunteers who are artists is the possibility (after sustained volunteer commitment and pending juried approval) of displaying their work and making new friends.
We're looking for volunteer Gallery Associates who love BOTH art and people! Experience/comfort with computers and Google tools (Google Sheets, Forms, etc.) is also a big plus. Our Volunteer Coordinator will train each volunteer. Most of the procedures are documented for easy reference.
Volunteers greet visitors and explain the Academy's educational offerings and assist customers in the Gallery. All the items in the Gallery are made by local artists. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist and complete sales
Answer phone inquiries
Manage sign ups for classes
Receive, tag, and record artist inventory
Help set up exhibits, decorations, displays
Use computer for various administrative tasks
Open/Close the Academy and gallery (First shift opens, second shift closes)
Perform other routine tasks as required.

Located in the popular Village of Peninsula's Historic District, Peninsula Art Academy includes a fine art gallery and exhibit hall, performing arts stage, working artist studios and meeting space. We are within walking distance from the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Towpath Trailhead, CVSR Railway Depot, and many other shops, galleries and attractions. History:
In June 2000, Steve Craig and Matt Kubinyl organized a plan for establishing a non-profit art academy in Peninsula, Ohio to promote the arts, combining the natural and cultural benefits of Peninsula, and to use regional artists to serve as staff faculty and other nationally prominent artists as visiting instructors and speakers. Further, the Peninsula Art Academy was created to promote a cultural venue where artists and craftsmen come to learn and create fine art.
