About Astoria Values Inc.

Location:

23-01 24th Avenue, Astoria, NY 11102, US

Mission Statement

We make good things happen. We Empower through the Arts and Education.

Description

We believe that Values are what creates long term sustained positive change. If you don't address values like Integrity, work ethic, empathy and Diversity, the true purpose of education and artistic enlightenment is not achieved. We engage in activities that are designed to help and empower the community. We run an After School and tutoring service as well as an Arts program. We do puppet shows, plays, teach kids to draw and make ceramics and we also run programs focused on Adults, like our Free English Woman's empowerment conversation class, known as Tea Talks. Our Center is open 7 days a week from 8:00 AM to 8 PM. We offer a number of programs catered towards serving the community. We are also passionate about empowering volunteers to give back by pursuing their passions. If you love Art, come help teach kids art, if you love Music, come help others share your passion for Music. We want to help connect people to one another so that together we may make good things happen, We believe that it is only when we serve others that we find true happiness. Our Arts Class's run daily between 4 and 5 PM. Our Woman's Tea Talks program runs every Friday between 3:30 and 5:30 PM. We also do workshops periodically on everything from how to handle a police stop to how to file for a Divorce Index number/avail yourself of city/state services. We are essentially here to serve the community and all that entails.

We have worked with large groups of volunteers in the past and have worked in concert with the City Parks and Education departments on volunteering activities.
