Action Corps is recruiting volunteer organizers to join our team. We are building leaders to fight voter suppression and end U.S. participation in Middle East wars.

Action Corps will support organizers to:

  • Build and lead a team in your state,

  • Connect with your state’s congressional offices,

  • Develop relationships with groups near you,

  • Create and update social media accounts, and

  • Coordinate participation in local events.

Organizers will have the opportunity to:

  • Belong to a multiracial, multicultural, intergenerational community of people passionate for global justice,

  • Connect with a variety of organizations, leaders, and potential employers,

  • Gain job skills,

  • Earn a possible letter of recommendation, and

  • Expand your role in Action Corps into a paid fellowship or other opportunity.

The commitment requires 2 to 5 hours per week, including weekly hour-long meetings, for a minimum of 12 months. All accepted applicants will receive training during the virtual orientation and support during weekly Sunday-evening calls beginning in August. They will also be invited to an in-person leadership training in Washington, DC, September 13-16.

If you are passionate for global justice, we invite you to apply today to be an Action Corps organizer. The application deadline is July 31st. Finalists will be invited for a short interview over video. Accepted applicants will be invited to online training and orientation sessions prior to the September training in DC.

This volunteer opportunity is currently open exclusively to U.S. residents.

Mission Statement

The mission of Action Corps is to champion justice in solidarity with people most affected by climate disasters and violent conflict. We achieve this mission by bringing together diverse actors for humanitarian advocacy--connecting grassroots activists to NGOs, media and members of Congress.

Description

Action Corps is a grassroots initiative to build people power in solidarity with people around the world. The organization is focused on U.S. policies in solidarity with people from Yemen and Burma, communities most affected by climate disasters, and low-income countries dealing with COVID-19. Action Corps grew out of Oxfam and is volunteer-run with advocates in 30 states.

Action Corps played a pivotal role in the passage of the historic Yemen War Powers Resolution to stop U.S. participation in the devastating war in Yemen. And we have secured key commitments from congressional leaders in support of the people of Yemen. For example, in October 2019, after leading rallies in front of their offices, Action Corps met face-to-face with Sen. Schumer, Senate minority leader, and with Sen. Jack Reed, ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and held a community meal with Rep. Eliot Engel, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Soon after, all of them, at our urging, released public statements, calling for an end to U.S. participation in the devastating war in Yemen.
