ORGANIZATION: League City Pets Alive aka Friends of League City Animal Shelter

Kitty Condo Krewe

LCPA adopts around 300 cats/kittens per year saving them from a life on the street or possible euthanasia In animal shelters.

We have adoptable cats and kittens residing seven days a week in cat habitats at SIX pet supply stores. Three in League City, Two in Clear Lake City, and 1 in Kemah . PETCO, PetSmart, and Pet Supplies Plus.

The adoptable cats and kittens are showing and being adopted seven days a week. This agreement with the stores requires we keep the habitats clean and take care of the cat's other needs. Volunteers feed, scoop, give the cats enrichment by socializing and playing for how ever long you want to stay. A typical shift is one hour and the times are flexible. We have many parents working with their children to teach them responsibility, and spending time together.

While in the store you will answer questions from the store customers about the cats in the habitat, who we are, what you do and invite them to volunteer with us. You will be trained so you can explain the adoption process and direct them to our website to complete an application or view our other adoptable cats.

You can advance to doing "meet & greets" with the potential adopters, train other volunteers as they join. Train to become an adoption counselor, able to approve and process adoption paperwork. Ultimately you could become a co mentor for a store. Don't worry, you move at your own pace.
If you decide volunteering in the stores isn't for you, you can become a Feline Friend at the Shelter. You could be a temporary foster for our cats or the animal shelter. You can do as much or as little as your schedule allows.

Saving lives is what we do and you can too.

About League City Pets Alive aka Friends of League City Animal Shelter

Mission Statement

Friends of League City Animal Shelter aka League City Pets Alive is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Our purpose is to stop the senseless killing of companion animals and maintain the "NO KILL" status of League City. We acquire donations or raise funds for the purchase of services and supplies not covered by the City budget. Funds are used for mostly for veterinary care, medical supplies, puppy and kitten food, and related animal supplies.

Description

In 2013 we set a goal to become NO KILL. The community achieved that goal completely in 2017. A shelter is considered "no kill" at 90% live release rate. We didn't stop there. The volunteers and staff work tirelessly to maintain over 95% live release. Committing to be "no kill" means providing treatment for animals that most shelters would kill rather than spend funds to treat. Our community has a generous giving spirit and we are blessed with donations that allow many animals to be saved. We have cats available for adoption seven days a week at SIX area pet supply stores. The Kitty Condo Krewe increased the live release of cats significantly. The Cat Condo program requires 70 volunteer shifts per week.

"We are delighted to have moved into our new shelter in 2020. The new shelter gives us more space for animals and the ability to engage the community at the shelter and develop more life saving programs.

Come join us in saving lives.
