Join an Innovative Program that:

• improves the health of our community.

• is a collaboration between multiple professionals at Valley Medical Center (physicians, nurses, Registered Dietitian, Social Worker, and administrators)

• allows you the opportunity to provide one-on-one encouragement and coaching to a patient as well as weekly supervision and mentoring by our Registered Nurse and Social Worker.

• provides you with weekly professional development and team learning opportunities throughout the duration of the experience.

• teaches valuable communication skills, including an introduction to motivational interviewing, and offers first-hand experience working with and advocating for patients.

• offers a one-of-a-kind community service opportunity that will look great on your resume when applying for future positions in healthcare.

Through this program, volunteers will obtain education related to chronic medical conditions and insights for promoting positive health behaviors. Applicants who successfully complete the 12-week virtual training course will then receive approximately 6 months of real-world training and experience supporting patients to make positive health and lifestyle changes through Valley Medical Center’s Primary Care Clinics. Health Coaches provide extended, one-on-one coaching and support in for patients through in-person, telephone and zoom visits. Training course start dates are offered spring and fall and applications are accepted year-round.
