We are always in need of volunteers for our Hospice Program. There are several ways you can truly help, touch and make a difference in the lives of our patients and it won’t take much of your time.
For example:
You can visit with, read to, listen to music with, or even help someone write a letter or make return phone calls. These types of things are VERY special to the patient, and also gives the Caregiver a much-needed break.
Maybe you like to shop or run errands, and would be willing to do that for someone who can no longer drive and get out of the house to do these things for themselves.
Or perhaps you are the outdoor-type and could assist a patient/family with yard/lawn work that they can no longer do.
Our patients/families have the same needs that we all have. However, they are in a phase of life where these tasks are harder, if not impossible, for them to get done.
Volunteers share with us all of the time that they get back WAY MORE than what they give. So, please consider becoming a member of Interim’s wonderful volunteer team, and join us in making a difference in the lives of some very special people. You won’t regret it!
As a volunteer, you will have access to ongoing educational opportunities to ensure you feel comfortable with your role. Hospice education covers
- Philosophy of hospice care
- Services offered by hospice
- Effective communication with patients and family members
- Physical, emotional, social, and spiritual issues encountered at the end of life
- Comfort for patients and families
