The holiday season is a time for festivities and family. It’s also a time for giving. This year, you can give a meaningful gift that helps people through some of life’s toughest moments. From helping people impacted by disasters, like home fires and floods, to supporting lifesaving blood donations, you can make a difference. The need for volunteers remains critical and constant during the holiday season.
Disaster Dispatcher
Virtual opportunity to coordinate local response teams that provide basic comfort and care to
families after home fires and other disasters.
Responsibilities:
- Dispatch activate disaster responders and monitor the response to ensure appropriate resources are made available.
- May be required to monitor activity across multiple responses.
- Notify Public Affairs, Health, and Mental Health Services when needed.
- Document incident information.
- Attends regularly scheduled team meetings as required by Chapter/Region.
Time Commitment:
- Minimum 4 on-call shifts per month
Qualifications:
- Reliable access to phone, computer, and internet when on-call
- Comfortable using and learning new technology
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks in complex, rapidly changing and stressful situations
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
