If you would like to help adult learners improve their reading, writing and conversational English skills please join us for our Tutor Training Orientation to learn about becoming a Basic Reading or ESOL Tutor.
Tutors must have a High School diploma, attend an orientation session and complete our 18-hour training. No teaching experience is required, but volunteers should be patient and sensitive to the needs of adult learners.
Tutors meet with students 2 hours per week, and we ask for a one-year commitment.
Orientations & Trainings
We have orientation sessions scheduled each month. Our first orientation in 2025 will be on January 6th at 6:30p.m. at the library. Potential volunteers who have attended an orientation are eligible to participate in a tutor training. Our first tutor training in 2025, which will be online, begins January 8th and will conclude January 29th. Please call the office for details (781-769-4599.)
