We are in need of dedicated volunteers who will be willing to care for the equines, help with fundraisers to help keep the rescue going. There are many opportunities within our organization to give a hand whether it is direct care with daily chores, assist in medical emergencies, office related tasks, organizing a fundraiser event, helping out a fundraiser event, writing grants and so much more. We need people to help in all aspects of the rescue.

About HAY BURR INN CORP
Location:
169 BLACK HILL RD, PLAINFIELD, CT 06374, US
Mission Statement
Hay Burr Inn’s all-volunteer staff is dedicated to saving the lives of horses that are victims of starvation, neglect, abuse, bound for slaughter, or whose owners are unable to provide for their needs. It is our goal to rehabilitate and restore the physical and emotional health of the horses and find them a loving home, or continue to give them the special, intensive care they need to live out their days in peace.
Description
Hay Burr Inn has been rescuing horses for over a decade, but only became a Charitable 501(c)3 Organization in 2014.
We currently house 13 horses and 3 donkeys.
We rescue the "unwanted of the unwanted" horses. Horses who no longer serve a purpose for their owners are put up for auction and sold to the highest bidder. Those who are "too broken" to be purchased at the auction are sent over the Canadian or Mexican borders for slaughter. It is our goal to intercept these horses that are bound for slaughter, and take them to our sanctuary. Other horses come to us from severe neglect, abuse and owner surrenders.
Regardless of their origin, it is our goal to take these horses to our sanctuary where they can rest and be rehabilitated. We rehabilitate their health and their spirit- Allowing them a safe place to recover from any medical or mental trauma of their past.
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities that allow people of all ages, abilities, talents, and experience levels to help the horses.
