The Richmond Walk to Defeat ALS will be held on Brown's Island on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
Registration begins at 10:00am and Walk Start is at 11:00am. We have a need for a larger amount of
volunteers.
Volunteers are needed to help with:
set up
volunteer check-in
registration check-in
working various tents
There will also be other opportunities as well as a need for general support during the walk as needed.

Mission Statement
Leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support. The DC/MD/VA is based in Rockville, MD with an office in Richmond, VA.
Description
The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of people living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and their families in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The ALS Association National Office and the ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter operate under a shared mission: to support people living with ALS and to leave no stone unturned in the search for a cure. The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA is currently serving almost 700 people living with ALS and their families. These services include assistive technology devices, social worker visits, medical equipment loan closet, transportation grants, and many other services. All of the Chapter's services are provided free of charge to the families.

REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 16
- 3 hour or full day.. Shifts are optional. Great community service hours. Able to arrive 30-45 min before volunteering to check-in, get t-shirt and be trained on area of work.
- Attentive to detail, able to follow and share information clearly, able to be on feet for a few hours. If doing community service hours, please bring form to be completed
