Volunteers of Be the Star You Are!®
Volunteers of all ages participate in fairs and festivals to increase literacy and positive message programming.

Be the Star You Are is looking for a dedicated person or team of people to organize and chair three or more fundraising events per year. Planning and coordination can be done virtually, however, volunteer needs to live in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, preferably in Orinda, Moraga, Lafayette, or Walnut Creek. Event chair will need to be present at the events, organize committees for fundraising, set-up, event activities, and take down. Chairperson will meet with Executive Director, Cynthia Brian, in Moraga office.
Be the Star You Are!(r) participates in May in the Moraga Community Faire, in September at the Pear and Wine Festival, and December at the Visit with Santa event, all held in Moraga. In addition, BTSYA volunteers participate in other community events. BTSYA is open to other events that could be planned by the chairperson. Visit our website at http://www.bethestaryouare.org.

Qualifications:

*Need to be highly motivated and creative

*Willing to find sponsors to meet the budget

*Possibly contact celebrities

*Very organized,

*Leadership qualities

*Experienced in organizing events and orchestrating a celebration or at least willing to learn.

*Must be able to direct and manage volunteer helpers by delegating to committees.

The coordinator is responsible for organizing the event, managing committees, and overseeing the details.

Commitment: 1 year of volunteering and we prefer a longer term.

These will be highly publicized events and need to be managed properly.

The volunteer opportunity is open to an individual, including teens, or it can be a team or group of individuals who wish to work together to collaborate.

The mission of Be the Star You Are! a non-profit corporation is to improve literacy, increase positive media messages, and provide tools for daily living by empowering women, families, and youth. We grow people!

Description

Be the Star You Are!(r), a 501 (c)(3) collects, commissions, and distributes empowering books, audio, video, art, and music. Recipients include youth and teen groups, women, shelters and support groups, seniors, job re-entry, treatment and recovery programs. The world is bombarded daily with negative messages. Believing that information infused with inspiration has the power to transform and change lives, Be the Star You Are! is a positive message media library offering choices and hope. Be the Star You Are! also broadcasts two radio programs, StarStyle-Be the Star You Are!, a lifestyle show Wednesdays, 4-5pm PT and Express Yourself!, a young adult program where teens talk and the world listens, Sundays, 3 PM PT, both on on Voice America Network/Empowerment Channel. http://www.BetheStarYouAreRadio.com.

Be the Star You Are!(r) makes a difference in communities by offering positive "edutainment", education combined with entertainment.

Please note that we will send every potential volunteer a questionnaire which must be completed before any position can be assigned. Minors under the age of 18 must have parental permission.

We are seeking only enthusiastic, responsible volunteers. If your only interest is getting community service, we are not a match for you.
