Background: Orlando City Foundation brings soccer to under served communities with a holistic approach to health and wellness. We invest in community gardens and safe places to play while providing free soccer programming in a fun and engaging way.

#KickingItBack, our free soccer programming, serves approximately 150 third through fifth graders, at 10 community centers throughout the Central Florida community, over a 12-week period. Weekly sessions incorporate soccer, life, and health and wellness lessons. Youth enrolled in our program have the opportunity to participate in our Skills Challenge in the middle of the season, and our Jamboree, a round-robin tournament that closes out the season.

Position Summary: This position is designed for individuals who are looking for an opportunity to coach soccer and mentor under served youth in our #KickingItBack free soccer program. The coach will teach basic soccer skills, life lessons, and health and wellness lessons while maintaining a fun and energetic atmosphere. The Foundation provides the 12-week curriculum that coaches are responsible for implementing at each site.

The 'Fall Season' takes place from September to December while the 'Spring Season' takes place from February to May. Sessions take place on weekdays and are typically 1-1.5 hours long between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 PM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coach at a designated community center 1x a week for 12 weeks
  • Implement the curriculum at each session
  • Provide weekly updates to the program coordinator
  • Maintain a coach log throughout the season
  • Attend the Skills Challenge and Jamboree events which typically take place on a Saturday

Qualifications:

  • A strong sense of accountability and commitment to Orlando City Foundation and the children participating in the program
  • Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of soccer and nutrition
  • Experience with leading youth sports teams or youth sports camps (soccer preferred)
  • Possess a positive, outgoing, engaging, and professional personality
Requirements:
  • Must 18 years of age or older
  • Attend the mandatory coach training at the beginning of the Fall and Spring Season
  • Must pass a FDLE background check (will be paid for by the Foundation)
  • Must be able to commit to a consistent after school schedule for 12 weeks
  • Reliable transportation to and from sessions and events

Accountability:

  • Academic Credit
    • If the coach is a college student seeking a Sport Management, Education, or another related degree, this opportunity can be used to receive academic credit. Financial reimbursement is dependent on if the institution allows it. If the coach would like to be financially reimbursed for the time as a coach during the season, a stipend will be given at the end of the season. Payment will be issued at the rate of $45 per session and is contingent on the completion of the coach log form and a W-9. Gas and mileage are assumed in the per session rate.
