The New York "Chicago-Style" Steppers is a dance company that teaches and promotes events in Chicago Steppin', a form of swing dance done to R&B, Soul, neo-Soul, and jazz music that has been a slow growing cultural phenomena in the African-American community in America for the past 15 years.

We are looking for Volunteers to assist the company with programs, promotions, website, social media, organizing, and instructing at classes and events. Ideal candidates will have a dance background and be familiar and/or interested in social dance within the African-American community.

Volunteers will be entitled to free training, classes, and workshops in the dance that the organization conducts regularly, and other benefits.

No pay up front but an opportunity to learn with a company that has grown since 2007.

Mission Statement

ActNow Foundation is a theater and film company which focuses its energies on uplifting the minority experience in this country. By providing a home for ethnically and racially diverse artists, we take audiences on a journey that enriches their cultural understandings. Through its New Voices in Arts & Media programming, the foundation delves into stories about race, love, family, cultural differences, self-empowerment, the corporate world, and the toils and aspirations of the working, middle and upper classes. Through these stories, ActNow shows that although human life experiences can be very different, we all share the same human struggle for survival, and no matter what our race or creed, we are all one.
