Foster Care Review Board's primary role is to advise the juvenile court by reviewing cases of children under court jurisdiction in out-of-home placement. Each case is reviewed at least every six months to assess progress toward achieving a permanent placement for the child or children.
As a board member you would donate one day each month to review cases that were assigned to your board. It is recommended that a member spend between 5 and 10 hours prior to the board meeting to review each case that will be discussed.

Mission Statement
The Foster Care Review Board (FCRB) is established by Arizona statute to review, at least every six months, the case of each child in an out of home placement and subject to a dependency action. The purposes of these reviews are to determine and advise the juvenile court of the adequacy of efforts and progress towards placement of the child in a permanent home; to encourage and facilitate the return of each dependent child to his/her family whenever possible; to promote and encourage stability in the child's placement and to assist in informing parents and others of their rights and responsibilities regarding a dependent child in foster care.
Description
The legislature established the Foster Care Review Board (FCRB) in 1978 in response to concerns that Arizona's foster children were being lost in out-of-home care, and staying too long in temporary placements. The FCRB's primary role is to advise the juvenile court by reviewing cases of children in out-of-home placement, at least every six months, and in assessing progress toward achieving a permanent placement for the child or children. The FCRB is required to report its findings to the court within 30 days of a review. The Foster Care Review Board is mandated to make determinations in these four key areas: safety, necessity and appropriateness of placement; case plan compliance; progress toward mitigating the need for foster care; a likely date (target date) by which the child may be returned home or placed for adoption or legal guardianship.
