Respite Care volunteers give family caregivers of older adults a well-deserved break, so they can go shopping, attend a doctor's appointment or just have coffee with a friend. Volunteers visit and oversee the safety of the older adult for approximately 6 hours each month as companions. Support and training are provided. There's no "hands on" care. Bilingual volunteers are also needed. Locations vary within Fairfax County and they are especially needed in the Alexandria and Great Falls region at this time. Some tidbits of info are included below but these people, like all people, have many more layers and interests. More details would be provided later.

Current needs:

Male, early 60s, Alexandria, 22309. Enjoys listening to 80s music. Visits would be on weekends.

Female, in her 80s, Alexandria, 22306. Visits needed on the weekends. Enjoys watching television, conversation, and puzzles (sometimes).

Female, in her 70s, in Great Falls, 22066. Enjoys reading, listening to classical music and sewing.

Thank you for considering this meaningful role!
