The goal of palliative care is to provide relief from symptoms and stress of illness, regardless of the diagnosis. The palliative care team does this by controlling the patient's symptoms and easing their pain. The care team does not replace the patient's doctors. Instead, it adds a layer of extra support. As a Providence TrinityCare volunteer, you will work closely with our palliative care team to ease the way of our patient's and their loved ones.
There are many opportunities to share your unique talents and gifts, including:
- Companionship- emotional and social support to the patient and their loved ones.
- Respite- provide relief for loved ones to run errands or take a break.
- Light chores- meal preparation, walking the dog, helping around the home.
- Transportation- take the patient/family member to a doctor appointment, shopping, or recreational purposes.
Serving South Bay, Santa Clarita, Canyon Country, Northridge, Burbank with offices in Torrance and Cerritos
