Mentors are welcome to Study Skills class at Venado Middle School in Irvine!
Venado is a public Title I middle school in the Irvine Unified School District. Study Skills is an elective class with focus on goal setting, time management, and growth mindset strategies, as well homework completion and test preparation for at-risk/ students of promise.
What to expect:
- Mentors are matched into small groups with 7th and/or 8th grade students to engage students to set and reach positive academic, career and personal goals. They assist students to complete homework and prepare for upcoming assessments under the guidance of a Certificated teacher and an Instructional Assistant, who are present at all times.
- Takes place during regular school day of the traditional academic year (September-early June).
- The preferred commitment is min 2 hour shifts at least once or twice per week.
- Mentors will receive training to be ready to join a classroom.
This is a unique opportunity to interact with and inspire the next generation and to get experience in classroom setting. Come, join us!
