If you enjoy catching a movie, playing video games, helping with homework, or shooting hoops, then Big Brothers Big Sisters of Family Services of NW PA is a perfect fit for you.

There are plenty of kids waiting to be matched with a big brother or big sister. Matches are made based on common interests, so all you have to do is be yourself to impact a child.

It only takes a few hours a week to make a difference in the life of a child.

Community-Based Mentoring Requirements:

  • Volunteer must be at least 18 years old
  • Commit to at least one year as a volunteer
  • Mentor a child between the ages of 6 and 14

There are currently more than 45 boys and girls waiting to be matched with a big brother or big sister in Erie County.

Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Family Services of NW PA is an evidence-based mentoring program that helps children realize their potential and build their futures by creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. The program provides adult role models to children ages 6 through 13 years old in Erie and Western Crawford Counties.

Anyone over the age of 18 in Erie or Western Crawford County can apply to become a volunteer mentor. The main requirement is a willingness to be a caring, consistent, and safe role model with a desire to have a positive impact on a child.
