Loyola

Loyola Medicine Hospice is looking for a few good people who are interested in being companions for those with a terminal illness. As a hospice volunteer you will sit with hospice patients and offer companionship in the form of conversation, playing games, sitting together and watching a movie, being present, and/or reading quietly to them. Sometimes just being there (so they aren't alone) is enough.

Training takes place where it is most convenient for you. Full training is provided and lasts a few hours. For more information, please contact Joanne at 630-861-5183 or e mail joanne.moore002@luhs.org.

Mission Statement

We are a Trinity Home Health Services agency. We serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities.

Description

For patients experiencing life-limiting illnesses or injuries, Loyola Medicine’s hospice program provides compassionate and comprehensive care to adult and pediatric patients. Hospice care is for patients with terminal illness or injury and intended to provide comfort and relief from pain, allowing for the highest quality of life possible during the time that remains.

Loyola’s skilled doctors, nurses, therapists, chaplains and home health aides provide care that focuses not only on medical issues, but also emotional and spiritual needs. Care is provided in the patient's home, with inpatient care for symptom control and pain management provided at Loyola University Medical Center. Respite care is provided at skilled nursing facilities or at long-term care facilities in the community.

Loyola’s hospice team also provides support for the patient’s family, providing counseling, comfort and guidance on caring for your loved one with dignity. Loyola’s hospice care team is available 24/7.

Loyola’s Home Health Services and Hospice Care is a Medicare-certified, Illinois Department of Public Health-licensed home care and hospice.
