There's a long list of older adults waiting for volunteer help in the Falls Church, Annandale, Alexandria region and not enough volunteers. If you could spare even 2 or 3 hours/month you could make a difference. Schedules are generally flexible. Volunteer Solutions volunteers help others age in place in their homes. They provide assistance to older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers.

Social visitors meet with the person weekly to chat for approximately one hour, to help reduce isolation and feelings of loneliness. Sometimes, it's a phone call, but more often it's in person.

Respite Care volunteers are needed to help family caregivers get a break and go run an errand or meet a friend for coffee, etc, while they keep their loved one company. This role is 6 hours/month.

Grocery shoppers are needed to either shop for the person or drive someone to the store, on average a couple of times per month.

Drivers are also needed for errands or medical appointments.
