Because they share a military bond, veterans form a camaraderie that goes beyond their civilian roles. this connection is comforting to other veterans at end of life.
Allay is looking for veteran and active military members who are willing to provide support and companionship to hospice patients who have a similar background. The main focus of our Veteran for Veteran Program is to allow terminally ill veterans an opportunity to share their military history with others who can relate to the military life and are willing to walk with them on their final journey.
In addition to life review and companionship, Veteran Volunteers may also choose to participate in a variety of activities to help us honor our patients such as: veteran recognition events and memorial services, community outreach and the Veterans History Project.
The amount of time you give is flexible and scheduled around your availability. We take into account your location to assign patient visits that are within or near your own community.
