If you are enthusiastic and passionate about creativity, history, and the arts we may be the perfect place for you. Our ideal candidate will deliver an engaging, entertaining introduction of our historic 100 plus room museum to every guest.

Our docent serves as an informed and friendly ambassador - educating our visitors on our robust history, museum philosophy, rotating collections -- and of course our secret doors. In addition, docents communicate with visitors and answer their questions during their self-guided tours, orienting visitors with the mansion layout, and ensuring that they have a safe and enjoyable experience.

What you will do:

  • Greet & check-in visitors when they arrive
  • Provide introduction/orientation docent talk to visitors
  • Give guided tours as needed
  • Encourage visitors to shop at our 30,000 square foot gift shop
  • Complete daily report at the end of each shift

Qualifications for success:

  • Excellent communication skills & positive attitude
  • Interest in history, music, architecture and the arts
  • Service oriented, guests come first.
  • Ability to learn our history and key messages and effectively deliver them to visitors
  • Employ discretion and maintain confidentiality with high profile guests
  • Assist with lite housekeeping of museum grounds/exhibits as needed
  • Ability to stand and walk around for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on need including weekends, special events, and holidays
  • Experience and passion for interacting with the public
  • Team player, able to distill and implement new ideas from customer feedback
Multi-lingual a plus!
