Position: Support Staff Volunteer

Organization: The Chrysalis Program

Location: 5017 South Hermitage Ave, 2nd Floor

Time Commitment: Flexible, Approximately [4 hours/Month] Must be present 2nd Saturdays 9:30am-2pm.

Position Overview:

The Chrysalis Program is seeking dedicated individuals to join us as Support Staff Volunteers. This crucial role involves providing essential support before, during, and after Saturday sessions and events. Support Staff Volunteers play a vital part in creating a positive and organized environment, ensuring the success of our programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pre-Event Setup:

    • Assist with venue setup and decoration for Saturday sessions and special events.
    • Collaborate with event coordinators to ensure spaces are welcoming and functional.
  2. Post-Event Cleanup:

    • Efficiently clean and organize the venue after Saturday sessions and events.
    • Ensure proper storage of materials and equipment.
  3. Food Preparation and Service:

    • Support food preparation activities for Saturday sessions and events.
    • Serve meals and snacks during programs, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
  4. Instructor and Event Coordinator Support:

    • Collaborate with instructors and event coordinators to fulfill setup and logistical needs.
    • Provide assistance during sessions or events as required.
  5. Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with fellow volunteers to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
    • Communicate effectively with program leaders to address any additional support requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for contributing to the success of youth empowerment programs.
  • Ability to lift and move event materials, set up decorations, and assist with food service.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic volunteer environment.

The Chrysalis Program seeks to reduce or eliminate the effects of childhood trauma for African American girls and their families on Chicago's South Side and beyond.

The Chrysalis Program creates safe spaces for girls to heal, learn and grow by offering Wellness Workshops, Counseling, Life Skill Classes, Creative Arts Lessons, Parent Classes, Enrichment Field Trips, Mentorship and Community Events.

​The Chrysalis Program is unique because it takes a holistic approach to empowering; teaching both life skills and coping skills that gradually improves the quality of life for participants and their families.
