ORGANIZATION: HIGHER EDUCATION LITERACY PROFESSIONALS INCORPORATED

Help us provide free summer reading tutoring to local students, to close the achievement gap!

More than 80% of children from economically disadvantaged communities can lose one to three months’ worth of reading skills over the summer. These deficits persist and compound, resulting in an achievement gap between these students and their wealthier counterparts. This program aims to prevent the summer slide for at least 25 elementary school students so every student can succeed in school.

The Homework HELP Program provides free tutoring to elementary school students at the Norwalk Public Library South Norwalk Branch. Volunteers will read short stories to students who are in grades K-3 to help build literacy and a love of reading.
