What is Camp Mariposa?
CAMP MARIPOSA is an addiction prevention and mentoring program for children (ages 9-12) affected by a family member’s substance use.
What are we looking for?
Camp Mariposa is looking for energetic, positive and fun adults (18 and up) for four to six weekends a year. The mentors/volunteers are onsite for the entire weekend and assigned up to 3 campers (ages 9-12). The primary responsibility of the mentor is to provide a positive, fun, supportive and energetic atmosphere for campers. Mentors will participate in and can facilitate sharing activities. Mentor will eat meals and share a cabin with their assigned campers.

Description
Established nationally in 1973, and in the Tampa Bay Area in 2001, WestCare, recognizes addiction to alcohol and drugs as a chronic disease. Like many diseases, a simple cure does not exist. Treatment at WestCare begins with an individualized plan that is tailored to address all aspects of addiction and co-occurring disorders. We value each client as an individual with the potential for lifelong recovery. Our substance abuse and mental health clinicians have extensive experience in working with a variety of populations (e.g., youth, veterans, homeless, etc.). Today, WestCare serves thousands of individuals in 17 U.S. states and 3 U.S. territories.
