The Friends of the Arboretum-Riverwalk are seeking in-kind donations of plants (especially Geraniums Spring / Bulbs in Autumn) for their award-winning Arboretum & Riverwalk. They are also looking to secure donations toward the mulch needed to apply on the aggregate planting beds, which can be a cash/check donation to offset costs.
Friends of The Arboretum Program is a flexible, friendly and fun gardening program for adults, men and women, retirees, groups, families, students and corporations.
Volunteer per your scheduling - THANKS!
This horticulture volunteer program introduces individuals to the beautiful public gardens of the award winning JAYCEE Riverwalk Corridor & Arboretum and offers an opportunity to become involved in the maintenance and improvement of this special place.
Gardening is a healthful and rewarding experience while having fun developing gardening skills, learning about plant materials and what's involved by assisting the JCS with horticultural tasks while maintaining a variety of specialty gardens.
Volunteers can assist at Special Events with such general gardening duties, teach workshops on plant-related subjects, conduct garden tours, create flower arrangements, photograph and/or video-tape events, help maintain a trail or portion of a trail, flower bed section(s) as individuals, families, groups or organizations (clubs, camps, scouts, etc.).
The Arboretum & Riverwalkk also transverses the West Bay Secondary Greenway, which actually comprises four trails along an old Hartford, Providence, & Fiskevillel Railroad corridor. Together, the Cranston Bike Path, Warwick Bike Path, West Warwick Bikepath and Coventry Greenway create 14.2 miles of paved trail. It's the eco-epic center to the several municipalities that comprise the Kent County region (and portions of Providence County) as well.
