Patient and Family Support volunteers visit in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and private homes, offering companionship and respite (a break for caregivers). Volunteers provide a comforting presence, do life review, sing or play music, participate in facility activities, read to patients and other activities based on patient abilities and requests. Training, screening and health requirements vary by role.
Licensed volunteers may provide hair care or massage therapy.
