Ridgeview Medical Center is looking for volunteers for our Patient Visitor Program. The primary goal of this program is to prevent confusion from developing while a person is hospitalized. Volunteers help patients over the age of 70 maintain their sense of control and allow them to voice their concerns. By providing sympathetic support, encouragement and companionship to older patients and their families, volunteers help create a friendly hospital environment and better patient outcomes.

The Patient Visitor Program position is staffed 3 shifts per day. Volunteers coming for the morning shift meet with patients who qualify for the program to explain the program. Volunteers coming for 2 nd and 3 rd shifts visit patients already enrolled, offering them help with practical matters such cleaning glasses, checking hearing aid batteries, etc. They may also offer activities such as crossword puzzles, playing cards, audio books. All patients in the program will be offered support and encouragement.
