Bingo volunteering
Volunteering with Community Knights is all about creating lasting friendships and relationships within our community as this effort supports the mission of funding GIFT Grants for education programs.

Community Knights holds a weekly Bingo fundraiser which raises funds for our organization's READY, COACH, & Knight Rides programs.

Volunteering will be at 12742 Nettles Drive Newport News, VA 23606. Parking is in the back of the building and

Volunteers are needed on Wednesdays from 4:45 pm - 10:30 pm.

Bingo Prep volunteers are needed on Fridays from 10 am - 1 pm.

Volunteers should pre-register at:

https://signup.com/go/nvXwSWq\

Volunteers do not require any prior training as we will provide training the day they sign up for the position.

A meal will be provided from the food truck on bingo nights to all volunteers who commit to 6 hours.

Restrictions:

Volunteers must be 14 or over. Volunteers under 18 must have a consent form filled by a parent or guardian. They can volunteer alone if over 14 with a consent form.

We cannot allow any individuals under 14 on the property, please make childcare arrangements before volunteering.

We do accept court-ordered community service as long as the individual is not charged with a felony. If an individual is being charged with a theft-related charge they can volunteer with us, but ONLY as a Bingo Prep position that does not handle money.

We require two business days advance notice for letters of community service, and the request must be made after the individual has completed all of their hours as we will only write one letter showing cumulative hours. We also ask that requests are mindful of holidays. As an example, if a volunteer's last day of volunteering Is on a Wednesday, we would be able to provide a hard copy of a letter at the earliest on Monday for pickup (two business days). We can provide a digital copy by email within 48 hours.

About Community Knights Inc

Location:

733 Thimble Shoals Blvd, Suite 170, Newport News, VA 23606, US

Mission Statement

Community Knights is a 501(c)(3) non-profit created to address deep budget cuts that hit our public schools and non-profits with the 2008 recession. Our work began with supporting public schools and the non-profit community on the Virginia Peninsula experiencing funding shortages. Through regular local fundraising we have united individuals and organizations to work collaboratively to invest in our community. We have evolved into a vibrant, interconnected community investing in underserved populations through a continuous loop of volunteerism, community driven fundraising, and empowering organizations we serve. Our mission is to identify the needs of small local non-profit and public school organizations as well as the populations they serve and finding innovative ways to help them meet these needs collaboratively.

Description

Community Knights uses a bingo fundraiser to fund their GIFT Grant initiatives. To date we have awarded $1,275,000.00 in grants to 160 different nonprofits and public school groups on the Virginia Peninsula from funds that have been raised at our bingo fundraiser. We are also dedicated to identifying service gaps for underserved populations within our community and, through the development of a nonprofit incubator, we want to support and educate start up organizations to fill unmet needs within our community.
