There's a long list of older adults waiting for volunteer help in the Alexandria, Lorton, and Springfield region and not enough volunteers. If you could spare even 2 or 3 hours/month you could make a difference. Schedules are generally flexible. Volunteer Solutions volunteers help others to age in place in their homes. They provide assistance to older adults, adults with disabilities and family caregivers.

Social visitors meet with the person weekly to chat for approximately an hour, to help reduce isolation and feelings of loneliness. Sometimes, it's a phone call, but more often it's in person.

Respite Care Companions are needed to give caregivers a break for 6 hours per month so the family member can run an errand or go have coffee with a friend.

Grocery shoppers are needed to either shop for the person or drive someone to the store, on average a couple of times per month.

Drivers are also needed for errands or medical appointments.

Thank you for considering these meaningful opportunities!
