Mission Statement
The mission of The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is to collect and preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the San Ramon Valley and interpret these objects and stories for the public in exhibitions, programs and research opportunities.
Description
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley currently exists in two historic buildings: a 1891 restored Southern Pacific Railroad depot and a restored 1888 one room school house. Both buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum's collections date from prehistory to the present and are accessed for exhibition purposes and research by students, authors and the public.The museum mounts about six exhibitions per year which have recently included "Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War", "The Art of Survival: The Japanese American Internment Experience During World War Two", "Cowboys and Cattlemen: Ranching in the San Ramon Valley" and "San Ramon 150: The 150 Anniversary of the City of San Ramon". Educational programs accompany each exhibit.
