CareerVillage.org is the 501c3 nonprofit reinventing the way underserved youth prepare for the world of work.
CareerVillage.org is the 501c3 nonprofit reinventing the way underserved youth prepare for the world of work.
We crowdsource college and career advice for young people through Q&A with business professionals (YOU!) online.
How it works: Students visit CareerVillage.org and post questions about any career. The platform then analyzes those questions and automatically distributes them to matching members of our online volunteer corps. What sets us apart for youth is how personalized and accessible the advice is. Students are able to interact with and learn from Professionals who do the jobs they’re interested in doing one day and who have once been in their shoes, all from the convenience of their smart phones or computers! In addition to getting the information they’re seeking, students are also getting a lot of what they don’t often directly ask for but what they need most: encouragement. CareerVillage.org acts as a community of adults who educate, inspire, and give confidence to the young people who need it most.
Since our start five years ago, more than 2.1 million young people have benefited from advice on CareerVillage, and on average 20,000 students visit the platform each week to prepare for the world of work.

Mission Statement
CareerVillage helps young people from low-income communities achieve professional success by closing the career information and advice gap.
Description
CareerVillage is a web-based Q&A platform that makes it easy for professionals to bring personalized career information and advice to young people from low-income communities. Our goal is to help these young people achieve professional success by closing the career information and advice gap.
At CareerVillage, young people get answers to their personal career questions from professionals with relevant experience. All of this valuable advice is indexed and publicly searchable for other young people.
Because answering questions on CareerVillage is fast and flexible, we can mobilize millions of professionals who are interested in being mentors but cannot commit to traditional mentorship relationships. CareerVillage can also be easily integrated by educators into schools and after-school programs, making it highly scalable.
