What is a Mentor? Mentors help change the trajectory of an underserved girl's life. They serve as a consistent figure in their lives for a 1-year commitment. No experience is necessary! With just one outing a month, you can make a difference in the life a girl in need in Coachella, Indio, and La Quinta.
Mentors are women 21 years of age or older. They must have a car, insurance, good driving record, undergo a criminal background check and commit a minimum of one outing per month for a minimum one-year commitment.
What do Mentors do? They spend quality time with their Mentee doing activities that they already enjoy doing. Hiking, baking, exploring, watching movies, reading, arts and crafts, and much more. The possibilities are endless!
Ideally we match you with a Mentee that lives no more than 20 minutes away from

Mission Statement
The mission of Girls Rising is to empower girls from eight years of age to early adulthood through a sisterhood of mentorship and career readiness support. Our Girls Rising Mentorship Program is built through example and community. We believe the value of mentorship is realized through positive modeling and support for girls aged 8-17 from San Diego and Riverside County areas with the greatest need. Our program for young women between 18-24, Women Emerging, focuses on career readiness and personal development.
Description
Girls Rising aims to build strong, empowering relationships through positive role-modeling and support for girls aged 8-17 and young women ages 18-24 from historically underserved communities in San Diego and Riverside counties. Our program helps girls and young women develop supportive, key relationships and allows them to feel a sense of belonging to a community that is built on sisterhood and connection.
We match our girls, or Mentees, with a female Mentor that can provide support, guidance, and opportunities to help navigate social and economic barriers and help meet their goals. Our Mentors encourage their Mentees through positive role-modeling and a consistent, 1-1 relationship. Learning from a positive female role-model on also ensures they will be able to face challenges with confidence and will be empowered to think of a future without limits!
