Mission Statement

Southside Cultural Center of Rhode Island connects, cultivates and engages community through the arts. We envision a connected community engaged in creating art that nurtures the voices of artists of color and cultivates leaders who lift up our people. At SCCRI we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age or socio-economic background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and express themselves through art.

Description

Today, we are home to the following organizations- The Cambodian Society of Rhode Island, RI Black Storytellers, RI Latino Arts, the Laotian Community Center, Providence Improv Guild, Arte Latino of New England, and a resident theatre company, the Wilbury Theatre Group. Collectively these organizations provide classes in dance, music, storytelling, improvisation, acting, playwriting, visual art installations, and live performance events. In addition, several of these organizations also provide social advocacy, cultivate cultural preservation, and support individual artists.
