Volunteers are part of a review board and will conduct individual out of home case reviews for children in the foster care system, make written recommendations regarding safety, permanency, and well-being to local department of social services, courts, and interested parties, and provide individual case advocacy. Opportunities to be involved in legislative advocacy are also available.

PLEASE NOTE: Currently our reviews are being conducted via Google Meet (similar to Zoom). However, our volunteers are Governor Appointed an so must reside in the county in which they serve.

To conduct case reviews of children in out-of-home care, make timely individual case and systemic recommendations; and advocate for legislative and systematic child welfare improvements to promote safety and permanency.

Description

The Citizens Review Board for Children is a federally mandated citizen review panel that provides child welfare oversight, reviews individual cases of children and youth in out-of-home placement, makes individual and systemic recommendations for improvement and provides legislative advocacy. CRBC makes recommendations to the local department of social services for the safety, well-being and permanency of children in out-of-home placement. CRBC reviews a sample of cases statewide and any requests for case reviews or concerns may be made by contacting CRBC's office.
