Karma Kitchen (www.karmakitchen.org) is a pay-it-forward restaurant that runs the last Sunday of every month in Berkeley. Run by volunteers, our meals are cooked and served with love, and offered to the guest as a genuine gift. To complete the full circle of giving and sustain this experiment, guests make contributions in the spirit of pay-it-forward to those who will come after them. In keeping this chain going, the generosity of both guests and volunteers help create a positive environment where transaction shifts to trust, self-oriented isolation turns into shared community, and from fear of scarcity transforms to celebration of abundance. All volunteers will be given an orientation at the start of the day. Prior restaurant experience welcome, but not necessary!

Description
ServiceSpace designs and runs a wide array of global projects that include (among many others) a daily positive news service, a platform that helps spread anonymous acts of kindness, a network of pay-it-forward restaurants, and over 70 local hubs around the world where people come to practice stillness and reflection together. In all our projects we aim to facilitate four mindset shifts:
- from transaction to trust
- from scarcity abundance
- from isolation to community
- and from consumption to contribution
