Blue Faery seeks an experienced communications and public relations professional who would like to give his or her time to a small, but dedicated, nonprofit organization. He/she should have a degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field. Experience can substitute for formal education.
The time commitment is 2 - 4 hours per week.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Develop creative ways to get the word out about our organization.
- Draft press releases using our style guide with perfect grammar, punctuation and spelling.
- Respond to requests for information from the media or choose appropriate person to fulfill the task.
- Establish and maintain relationships with parties who can further Blue Faery’s mission.
- Identify and arrange PR/promotional opportunities (e.g., public appearances, interviews, lectures, conferences)
- Hold monthly meetings with the president.
- Plan short and long-term goals and objectives for Blue Faery.
**NOTE: We have two virtual offices so we comply with all CDC social distancing guidelines.

Blue Faery's mission is to prevent, treat and cure primary liver cancer, specifically Hepatocellular Carcinoma, through research, education and advocacy. Our work will improve the quality of life for HCC patients, support their caregivers and give them hope, information and a voice.
Description
Blue Faery is committed to helping people with liver cancer, their families and their healthcare providers. Our programs include
- Adrienne Wilson Spirit Award -- a rolling monetary award for liver cancer patients who advocate for themselves and others during their cancer treatment
- Blue Faery Award for Excellence in Liver Cancer Research -- an annual research award honoring or funding innovative research specifically in hepatocellular carcinoma
- HCC Patient Education & Provider Project -- free HCC patient education brochures to patients, their families and their providers available in English, Chinese and Spanish shipped worldwide
- Liver Cancer Community -- online HIPAA compliant forum for HCC patients and caregivers available in English, Spanish and Portuguese
