OhioHealth At Home in partnership with Compassus Hospice Patient Support Volunteers:

• Provide companionship and support to patients and/or families
• Read a book, watch TV or play a game with patients, or just provide a listening ear
• Provide respite time for a caregiver

Qualifications:

1. Commitment to the philosophy and goals of hospice
2. Emotional maturity, sensitivity, listening skills
3. Reference and background check (including fingerprinting)
4. Completion of TB blood test and yearly flu vaccination
5. Skills in listening, empathy and acceptance of people in their current life stage
6. Understanding of grief and loss issues
7. Ability to work independently
8. Ability to commit to at least 6-10 hours per month to volunteering.
