Become a Puppy Raiser
You can give the gift of independence by raising a Guiding Eyes dog!

We are actively seeking volunteer Puppy Raisers to care for our adorable, purpose-bred dogs during the first eighteen months of their lives. Raisers teach puppies house manners and basic obedience while socializing them to the everyday world, thus laying the foundation for success in guide dog training. Guiding Eyes provides extensive support including weekly obedience classes, free veterinary care and local assistance.

Guiding Eyes for the Blind is dedicated to enriching the lives of blind and visually impaired men and women by providing them with the freedom to travel safely with the assistance of professionally trained Guiding Eyes dogs, thereby assuring greater independence, dignity and new horizons of opportunity.

Description

Since 1954, Guiding Eyes has managed to thrive on goodness, even in the most difficult of times. We relied on the goodness of our loyal base of generous supporters, passionate staff and dedicated volunteers to come together to meet the growing needs of our diverse community of people with vision loss. Through this unwavering support and dedication, Guiding Eyes has graduated more than 10,000 guide dog teams. We believe in the powerful, meaningful change that our beautiful dogs bring to the lives of people facing the daily challenges that blindness and vision loss present.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we provide all services completely free of charge to people who are blind or with vision loss. At Guiding Eyes, we rely upon the contributions of our generous donors to fulfill our mission.

Guiding Eyes for the Blind has two locations: Yorktown Heights and Patterson.
