AccentCare Hospice is looking for compassionate people to provide volunteer support to terminally ill patients throughout Morgan Hill and South San Jose.

As a Patient Care Volunteer, you will provide our patients and families with emotional support, resources, and companionship. You will work directly with our medical care team: social workers, nurses, doctors, music therapists, nutritionists, and chaplains. Volunteer activities with patients include: Reading to the patient, letter-writing, listening to music with the patient, documenting the patients’ life stories, and participating in activities with dementia patients, You will be a friend to someone dealing with terminal illness, and you'll learn about the ins-and-outs of Hospice Care!

All volunteers must:

• Watch 4-5 hours of online educational modules about the policies, challenges, and benefits of hospice
• Complete form authorizing a background check
• Interview with Volunteer Services Coordinator
• Have an untarnished criminal background history
• Have no more than 3 moving violations within the past 36 months
• Attend a physical, offered to you at no cost (or provide proof of recent check-up with a physician)
• Have a Tuberculosis skin test, offered to you for free at our office
