Come discover the joys of sharing and serving with your dog through weekly or monthly visits with Somerville Public Schools. Since 2012 certified Therapy Dog Teams have been serving in Somerville classrooms as reading partners, during counseling sessions, small group reading and conversation and wellness events.
Spending time with a dog or therapy animal has shown to reduce anxiety, improve focus, increase socialization and verbal interactions, assist children with speech and emotional disorders and offer mental, emotional and physical benefits to children.
If interested in becoming certified as a therapy dog team, upcoming assessments for certification will be held in Somerville Public Schools, provided by Dog B.O.N.E.S. of Massachusetts, Saturdays, June 1, 8, 15, 2024, from 9:00am-10:30am.
