Alexander Leigh Center for Autism (ALCA) is seeking Board Members to help with the continued growth of the organization and to help continue meeting the needs of our students and staff.
ALCA seeks individuals passionate about making a difference in their community who also understand the need for special education schools and young adult services for individuals diagnosed with autism. Autism now affects 1 in 44 children born in the United States.
Alexander Leigh Center for Autism (ALCA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, full-day, year-round Therapeutic Day School approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The school serves children 3-22 years old with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), OHI, multiple disabilities, developmental delay and/or intellectual disability. Our student population primarily comes from local public school districts that require a more supported placement to meet students’ needs. ALCA is based in McHenry, IL. Our students currently reside in Cook, DuPage, Lake, Kane, McHenry, and Will counties.
Mission: Helping children with autism and those that love them to THRIVE!Board Members:
- Prefer a background or knowledge in special needs, housing/real estate, banking/finance, fundraising, or strategic planning/small
- Knowledge of capital campaigns, transition and occupational readiness programming, housing opportunities, and/or self-sustainable business ventures is helpful.
- Willing to roll up your sleeves and start making a difference
- Meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm; meetings last approximately 90
- The Board is responsible for setting organizational policy and working with the Executive Director , and the Director of Operations to the schools fiscal
- Board Members will use their influence to attract supporters willing to assist with furthering the strategic plan and vision.
- Minimum annual gift requirement: financial, or assistance with or creating a fundraising event.
- Must attend 3 of the 5 annual fundraising events and participate in meeting the fundraising goals of the school.
