We need volunteers to help with our GARDEN of WEEDING! We are a certified wildlife habitat with the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) and a member of the Hopewell Valley Open Space/Private Land Stewardship Program. You will be assisting with weed removal (no harsh chemicals-just plain old pulling them up). And we may need assistance with native species plantings if we get plant donations. We also need help with raking up pine needles. We provide all the tools. Our goal is to maintain a Zen like and visually appealing site for the rescued dogs who visit with us (and the people who adopt and love them). No animals will be on site when you volunteer to help us-so there are no worries about safety concerns....and no pooper scooper duties either-we promise!
We provide all tools but suggest that you bring your own gardening gloves and wear closed toe shoes and long pants.
We are a non profit organiztion providing tutoring to kind people who adopt from animal shelters or breed rescue groups, or those who are fostering animals from shelters or rescue groups. Our four acre facility simulates the environment one may find in a park or on a hike so visitors can "practice" walking their newly rescued dog in a safe, supervised environment.
Our educational services help abused, abandoned animals who are transitioning from homeless to a forever home. We do not kennel dogs on site, but rather offer an educational environment, gently used equipment, and free tutoring to help those on both sides of the leash when a rescued dog is adopted or fostered.
If this opportunity interests you please take a peek at our website (ww.doingrightbyrescues.org) for a detailed description of the work we do to help those who help animals. And thank you in advance for whatever you can do to support our mission-we could not do what we do without the kindness of volunteers!
Thank you for reading about our opportunity and considering our non profit for your volunteerism. You can see some pictures of our site at www.doingrightbyrescues.org. Hoping to hear from you, Pam

About Doing Right By Rescues
Location:

Mission Statement
We are a non profit with two missions; To provide tutoring to individuals who have rescued dogs and to provide low cost educational sessions relevant to those who rescue or foster animals.
Description
We provide assistance with non traditional dog training (not formal obedience) for those who have kindly opened their homes and hearts to rescued dogs. We specialize in providing tips, training and equipment recommendations to deal with reactivity issues which sometimes come with rescued dogs. We also provide hands on customized instruction at our six acre zen-like training facility to help people learn techniques to calm and destress their rescued dogs.
Whether a person has adopted a dog (or is fostering a dog for a non profit organization) we work one on one (no group classes) to support them as they help dogs transition from rescue to rehomed. We also offer home visits for rescued dogs adopted by senior citizens who may be unable to come to our facility.
We are certified Tellington Touch Practitioners and members of the Pet Professionals Guild for Force Free Training and have signed a pledge to employ only kind, positive reinforcement and humane handling techniques at our tutoring barn.
