LoveWay, Inc. is a Therapeutic horseback riding center serving special needs children in Elkhart County. We are in need of volunteers to assist with daily classes we offer weekdays, evenings and saturday mornings. Most of our students require the assistance of 1-2 sidewalkers to ensure their understanding and safety while with their horse. Volunteers are assigned to a student and their team for weekly lessons beginning in September and continuing through the school year and wrapping up in May.
Side walkers walk alongside the riders to ensure safety and help facilitate the lesson under the guidance of a certified instructor. Side walkers may be asked to demonstrate or help the riders with specific tasks, support or assist the rider physically, or facilitate games or activities as directed by the instructor. Duties include assisting students with tacking their horse, grooming horses, supporting students as they mount their horse and side-walking while they are with their horse. Volunteers must be 16 or over to assist with classes.
Side walkers must be safety minded at all times. Volunteering does not require prior knowledge or experience with horses. ALL training will be provided!

Located in the rolling, wooded hills between Bristol and Middlebury, the 30-acre facility offers comprehensive class semesters twice a year, in the spring and fall, in addition to summer camp opportunities.
